The Correlations of Essential Elements Involved in Transknowletology and the Light of Approaches to Transnational History Studies Shed on Transknowletology

Abstract:

By drawing on Actor Network Theory and transnational history studies, this paper explores the relation between “knowledge” and “translation” in Transknowletology, and what Transknowletology can learn from “cultural transfer” and “entangled history”, two approaches to transnational history studies. The paper maintains that knowledge and translation are mutually defined in their correlations; the world of knowledge is transformed into the world of translation through the “mediation” of the translator’s world, and the three worlds construct mutually to form a dynamic network of relations; “interessment translation^ANT” is helpful to investigate the interests distribution mechanism of translation as knowledge behavior from the linguistic and sociological perspectives; the theoretical views upheld by the entangled history study can enlighten us to think carefully about reflexivity, underline historicity, focus on intersection, guard against over-insistence on causality, and emphasize interactive relations in the study of Transknowletology. In addition, it summarizes the basic connotation of the study of “knowledge transfer” and some views on the study of conceptual history in Transknowletology.
