Analyzing Doctor of Translation and Interpreting in the Context of Transformation of Knowledge Production Mode

    Abstract:

    The establishment of Doctor of Translation and Interpreting (DTI) from conception to reality requires scholars of Translation Studies (TS) to seriously consider fundamental questions. The ten-year argumentation and survey on the professional degree of DTI have reflected the needs of the transformation of the knowledge production model for TS as a discipline. It is necessary to compare the educational philosophy between DTI and PhD of TS in terms of student selection, curriculum, education quality assessment system, and talent management and employment, with a closing discussion on the faculty development for different degrees in TS.
