- March 1, 2010, Dr. Wei was invited by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to give a talk in Japan-Korea-China Symposium on Bioinformatics held in Tokyo,Japan. Title of the talk: "Finding diversity of a microbe community: 16S rRNA or metagenome shotgun sequencing method?"
- September 5, 2009, Dr. Wei recieved an RMB300,000 NSFC fund to develope an algorithm to measure the impact of SNPs on gene structure variations.
- June 1, 2009, Dr. Wei recieved an RMB1,610,000 fund to develope a system for metagenome data collection and analysis.
