To promote high-level academic exchange and substantive scientific collaboration in the frontiers of dark matter physics, the State Key Laboratory of Dark Matter Physics (hereinafter referred to as “the Laboratory”) hereby establishes the International Open Meeting Program (hereinafter referred to as “the Program”).
I. Program Orientation and Types
1. The Program focuses on core research directions in dark matter physics and supports small-scale, high-quality, and loosely scheduled international open meetings co-organized by the Laboratory members and internationally renowned scientists. The goals are to promote in-depth academic interaction, collaborative scientific research, joint cultivation of young scholars, and to attract outstanding international researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students into the Laboratory’s long-term collaborative network.
2. The Program prioritizes support for the following two types of activities:
(1) Long-term Collaborative Research Programs: Typically lasting 3 to 4 weeks, which may include embedded workshops, focusing on sustained and in-depth collaborative research.
(2) Short-term Specialized Workshops: Typically lasting 1 to 2 weeks, focusing on intensive discussion on key scientific questions or technical challenges.
II. Number and Amount of approved Programs
1. In principle, no more than 4 Programs will be funded per year.
2. Funding Support
(1) Short-term Specialized Workshops (1-2 weeks): The funding support typically shall not exceed RMB 100,000.
(2) Long-term Collaborative Research Programs (3-4 weeks): The funding support typically shall not exceed RMB 200,000.
(3) Applications requesting exceeding the above limits under special circumstances require a recommendation from the Review Committee and deliberation by the Laboratory Management Committee.
(4) Applicants are encouraged to coordinate participants with the “TDLI Visiting Scholars Program” to optimize the Program implementation and reduce expenditures.
III. Application Requirements
1. Applicants must meet all the following requirements:
(1) Applicants should be members of the Laboratory with senior professional/technical positions (or equivalent titles).
(2) The Program should be co-chaired by a Laboratory member and at least one internationally recognized scientist.
(3) Each applicant is limited to apply one program within the same calendar year.
2. Programs shall meet the following basic requirements:
(1) Scale and Duration: The total number of participants shall in principle not exceed 50, and the duration shall not exceed 4 weeks.
(2) Participants Composition: The Program should include a reasonable proportion of young scholars (postdoctoral fellows and PhD students) and participants from multiple countries or regions.
(3) Timing: The meeting must be held within the approved fiscal year, with specific dates specified in the application.
(4) Location: The meeting shall be held at the location(s) of the Laboratory, including TDLI or SPA of SJTU, as well as remote experimental sites.
3. Application Materials
(1) Project Proposal
• Chinese application form: see Attachment 1
• English application form: see Attachment 2
Applicants may submit either the Chinese or English version.
(2) Supporting Documents
IV. Submission Guidelines
(1) The call for proposals for the following year is issued annually in December.
(2) Deadline for 2026 Proposals: Applicants must submit the completed proposal and all supporting documents to this email address no later than February 1, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
